Cool down at the Ice Forum this summer

As the weather gets hotter, th search for ways to cool down continues. One place to go that is really cold is the Ice Forum in Southlake. The Ice Forum offers skating lessons, hockey leagues and lessons and exhibitions and public skating times.

Classes are available to a variety of ages and abilities. The Ice Forum also offers synchronized team skating and Hockey One and two, open to those who are interested in learning the basic skills of hockey.

Through July 30, the Ice Forum will offer skating to exclusively Christian music from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $6 with complimentary skate rental. Other public skating times are 10 a.m.-noon and 12:15-2 p.m., Monday through Friday, 4;30-6 pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 4-6 p.m. on Wednesdays, 7:15-9:15 p.m. on Thursdays, from 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sundays and from 7-10 p.m. on Saturdays.

There will be an exhibition this Saturday at 4:30 p.m.. The public is invited to come out and watch talented skaters perform and admission is free. Another big event is free ice hockey clinics with former New York Islander Yan Kaminsky. Clinics will take place Tuesdays in July from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and are open to ages six and up. Participants will need their own hockey gloves, stick and helmet with face shield. The Ice forum will loan skates. Elbow and shin pads are recommended but not mandatory. pre-registration is required.
