PTC Flash sends nine to USATF regionals

The PTC Flash has another State Champion. Davis Fraker, Bantam (10&Under) Boys, took first place in the mini-javelin throw this weekend at the USATF Association State Championships. He threw an incredible 21.9M (71'10") and no one was even close to him. Davis also qualified in the triathlon and shot put and will be going to Regionals in all three events.

The Regionals will be held in Richmond, Va. from July 11-14. The region consists of six states, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC.

The first five places in each event at the state meet qualify for Regionals. Out of the 10 athletes that competed this weekend from PTC Flash, nine qualified for the regionals. Haley Smith ran a personal best to land her qualifying spot in the 1,500 meter run as did Ian Roberts. Wes Smith snagged fifth to qualify in the mini-javelin, and Mary Frances Roberts took the bronze in the 3,000 meter for her spot.

Shannon Philipps took fourth in her first pentathalon, including a personal record of 4'1" in the high jump, for her qualification and Justin Jarrell ran fourth with another personal record for his spot. Roberts and Philipps also qualified along with Mary Herbel and Kara Markle in the 4x800 Meter relay.

Gabby Seiler, in the 8 and under girls division, ran in the 400 meter dash and finished with a time of 1:28.03.
