Southern Federal getting new PTC digs On Monday, the Southern Federal Credit Union and Group VI Corporation celebrated the groundbreaking of the credit union's new Class "A" office building at the corner of Commerce Drive and Aberdeen Parkway in Peachtree City's Westpark Office Park. Group VI Corporation was selected as the general contractor for the 8,800 square foot, two-story brick building and will begin construction immediately. Group VI plans to complete the facility in early 2003. The 6.5-acre site was purchased from Peachtree Holdings, LLC. The Southern Federal Credit Union is a Fayetteville, Georgia-based credit union serving over 25,000 members. Originally chartered in 1963 to serve employees of the southern region of the Federal Aviation Administration, the Credit Union now serves over 140 companies, associations, and governmental entities. In addition to the Peachtree City branch, the Credit Union also maintains offices in Fayetteville, Hampton, Morrow, Griffin, and College Park. The Peachtree City branch was formed in 1998, to better serve those credit union members living and working in the Peachtree City/Newnan areas. Since that time, numerous additional companies have been welcomed into the credit union's field of membership, including Cooper Lighting, Hoshizaki America, Inc., Lawson Mardon, Hella, Inc., Pathway Communities, Equistar Chemicals, World Airways, the National Weather Service, Frank W. Cawood & Associates, the Development Authority of Peachtree City, and Group VI, along with many others. While continuing to provide a complete array of full-service financial products and services to the employees of these groups, the new office will also feature a community room, drive-up ATM, and three drive-thru lanes for added member convenience. "Due to the growth we've had in Peachtree City, a new and improved facility was inevitable," said Ray Hull, president of the Southern Federal Credit Union. "This is another example of how we strive to improve the level of service we give our members," Hull continued. "We hope our members enjoy the new amenities this branch will offer; it has been very exciting to be a part of this community, and we are pleased to be able to bring this new project to Peachtree City." Group VI, a full-service construction, development and real estate firm headquartered in Peachtree City, has completed numerous office, medical, industrial, religious and commercial projects throughout the Southeast and currently has active projects in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina.
