New merchants at the Avenue are offering different shopping choices Celebrating its one-year anniversary, The Avenue Peachtree City® continues to expand and impress as four new merchants debut at the popular open-air shopping center located at the intersection of Ga. Highways 54 and 74 in Peachtree City. Three local favorites, Shenanigans Toys & Books, One Magnolia Lane and Monet's Garden, are relocating from surrounding areas, while popular, national retailer Liz Claiborne Shoes decides on The Avenue Peachtree City as its first shop in Georgia. "We are pleased to see thecommitment of these local merchants to the roster at The Avenue Peachtree City," says Joel Murphy, president of the retail division of Cousins Properties Incorporated. "We feel it strengthens The Avenue shopping experience and increases the charm of the property." Owned by Peachtree City residents Chris and Debbie Thompson, Shenanigans Toys & Books opened on February 18. "We saw that The Avenue was the shopping nucleus of Peachtree City a perfect location for our store," says Chris Thompson. Shenanigans Toys & Books provides specialty items and products previously unavailable in the area. Shoppers delight in classic toys such as Thomas the Train, Lee Middleton Dolls, Play Mobile and a wide assortment of Ty Beanie Babies. Along with toys, the store also contains a large collection of educational books. A bright and fun atmosphere with play areas, plush toys, exciting books and friendly service cater to children of all ages. A couple of doors down, the same friendly service can be found at One Magnolia Lane, a gift store and boutique opened March 15. Filled with quaint Southern hospitality, the store offers a vast selection of gourmet chocolates and candies, gift baskets and Cornell Trading clothing for women and children. This spring, Brighton leather handbags and shoes will be available. Offering such variety, One Magnolia Lane is the perfect spot to find the perfect gift, which can then be wrapped at no charge. "We moved our location to The Avenue due to the great shopping experience it offers," says One Magnolia Lane owner and Peachtree City resident Linda Surratt. "We strive to provide our shoppers with a warm, friendly staff, comfortable surroundings and our unique and personally-selected assortment of gifts." Liz Claiborne Shoes opened March 14 at The Avenue. Shoe shoppers revel in the store's arrival as it offers upscale, classy shoes in a fine-tuned, well-organized environment. An assortment of styles is available for women of all ages. "We've had a wonderful take-off," says Manager Nicolas Wyne. "We have received an open-armed welcome, and we look forward to continued success." Personalized service and home décor is the name of the game for Monet's Garden. Opened on May 1, the warm, inviting store will offer high-end home furnishings, as well as interior and exterior landscaping design services. Relocating from Griffin, the family-owned and -operated store will feature styles such as Anichini bedding and the complete line of April Cornell clothing for the home and people. Co-owner Rebecca Hellgeth and her husband are excited about the move. "Monet's Garden satisfies customers both inside and outside of the store. We feel that the men and women of Peachtree City will utilize and appreciate all that our store has to offer." The Avenue Peachtree City was designed with unique architectural accents such as a sparkling fountain, lush landscaping, park style benches and ornamental lampposts. The Cousins Properties concept combines a "village" approach that recalls the nostalgia of Main Street with the excitement and convenience expected by today's discriminating consumers. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
