Graphics company honors senior Recent McIntosh High School honor graduate Michael Amosu has been awarded the MHS Graphic Arts Scholarship for 2002. Michael completed three years in the graphics program during which he won many statewide awards for projects and designs. This summer Michael will represent his local Skills USA-VICA chapter at national competition, having placed first in state in the Promotional Bulletin Board contest. Michael, a member of the MHS Career Technical Honor Society, will enter the Graphic Communications program at Clemson University this fall. This year's scholarship was funded by Quad Graphics, the largest privately held printer in the world. One of Quad's 22 printing and production-related facilities is located in The Rock, Ga., and representatives from that plant serve on the MHS Graphic Arts Advisory Board. The company's Windhover Foundation manages the company1s many charitable activities, including the awarding of scholarships to outstanding graphic arts students. The MHS Graphics program prepares students for careers in the printing industry through hands on activities in the areas of graphic design, electronic imaging and prepress; offset printing; screen printing, and photography. The annual scholarship is awarded to a student who has excelled in the graphics program at McIntosh and who desires to further his or her education in a graphic arts related field.
