Fayetteville police are soliciting public assistance in identifying a suspect who stole jewelry from the Friedman's Jewelry Store at the Fayette Pavilion last week.

The suspect, who was well-dressed, entered the store June 4 around 2:45 p.m. and asked to see some engagement rings, police said. While viewing the rings the man grabbed the ring holder out of the clerk's hand and ran out of the store.

Witnesses told police the suspect ran behind the Home Depot store to the PetSmart parking lot where he got into a gray Ford Taurus and drove away.

Police have asked local media to share the following sketch of the suspect in the hopes he might be recognized and his identity may be learned by detectives working the case.

The suspect was described as being between the ages of 18 and 25, 5 feet 10 inches tall, approximately 190 pounds with a medium build.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Fayetteville Detective Debbie Chambers at 770-461-4441.
