Councilman hot
over fire impact fee
By MICHAEL

Tyrone's payment of the fire impact fee has got council member Ronnie Cannon a little hot. Since April, Tyrone has contributed $77,000 to the county's fire impact fee. The problem comes from the fact that Tyrone's fire services are not scheduled to receive any improvement until 2008. Cannon recommended that the town formally request an adjustment to the capital improvement program. "We'd like them to spend some of that money here," said Cannon, who believes if nothing is changed Tyrone should form its own fire department.
