All State East team featuring local players places third By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Several high school baseball players from Fayette County made the All State East team and played in the Georgia Dugout Club's All State Tournament. Fayette County High School's pitcher Josh Hunter and catcher/outfielder Matt Owens made the team, as did Starr's Mil shortstop Jake Jones and Sandy Creek's catcher Bruce Lester. Sandy Creek coach Eddy Householder was the coach of the All State East Team. All of the players were seniors this year and were selected based on their outstanding performances this past season. The tournament, which was held at Kennesaw State University and Mercer University in Macon was a great chance for the players to showcase their skills in front of dozens of pro and college scouts. There were 135 players selected for the six teams. The All Star East team finished in third place.
