Agent failed to disclose home lay beneath airport approach

Thank you for the April 12 article on concerns over a new subdivision being built right under the future planned precision approach of Peachtree City Airport. It was an excellent article on a timely issue affecting homeowners and home buyers across the country.

We were [misled] by our Realtor when we purchased our home in Hendersonville, N.C., since she lied to us about airplanes and sold us a home under the precision approach (ILS centerline) to the runway at the Asheville Regional Airport.

We are full-time nature artists and were horrified to discover low-flying planes around us.The airport is small enough to cheat people and big enough to be obnoxious, all depending on the winds and time of day.It is the fourth busiest airport in North Carolina, but neither the Realtors nor the airport inform people when buying homes under the final approach, nor under the precision approach.

We can get up to 80-plus planesper day at times next to our house, including 737 jet carriers, turboprops, regional jets and military jets and cargo planes practicing touch and go landings.

Your airport sounds concerned and conscientious about informing peopleof effects of noise and low altitude of aircraft in neighborhoods affected, and they should be congratulated for encouraging proper disclosure. Our airport and Realtors seem to work to hide such facts, and many have suffered because of it.
