We will overcome effects of Wynnmeade drug bust

With the events that occurred in our community and the front page publicity that we received from it, I'd like to take the opportunity to give anyone and everyone that reads your paper the overall response and reaction from the homeowners in our subdivision concerning guns and drugs in our community.

Frankly, we are not proud to have another dark cloud hanging over us such as this, but we are equally as happy about having it out in the open. We are adding it to a list of accomplishments in bringing Wynnmeade and keeping it in the position of "the comeback kids."

Over the years we have been given an unfair reputation, we've been called an unsafe place to live, we have endured snide remarks, derogatory labels because we were Wynnmeade. It is obvious that we are in need of attention and as comments from Chief Murray indicated, there are many of our residents who will help in changing the negative and restoring the positive to this community.

Just as it is in other areas of the city, bad people sneak through the cracks and can be the downfall of the community. Especially in older communities, we are fair game to slumlords, drug dealers, illegal guns, and almost anything that is unlawful.

That's why we have decided to take a stand to save Wynnmeade from what lurks in the dark, under rocks. The only power that they have is what they can hide. That's not power, it's simple stupidity and our residents are much stronger than that.

Our sincere thanks go the [Peachtree City] Police Department and all of their efforts in assisting the community. They've been here for us.

Finally we intend to keep our eye on the prize and we believe that there is one in our future. It's only a little farther over the rainbow.
