Falcon Field is key to county's economic growth On behalf of the Fayette County Development Authority I would like to show our support and appreciation for Peachtree City's Falcon Field. Each time we stand in the terminal waiting for a prospective client, we are confident that their first look of our community will be impressive. The terminal, the facilities and the service are second to none. During the last month, our board has accepted a request from the Airport Authority to help in the marketing and planned aviation development of the property surrounding Falcon Field. It is an important partnership as we set the vision of our local economy for the future. Falcon Field will continue to be an important player in both hosting new business recruits and generating others. One of the keys to that was the recent FAA funding for property purchase. This property is needed for future aerospace business. There has been some confusion over the funding of that FAA grant. The funds awarded to Falcon Field were part of the Airport Improvement Program, a program generated from revenue garnered by charging fees to airport users, either passengers or general aviation pilots. This is not income tax, but is actually a user tax, much like a TIF, CIP or special option sales tax. Only those that use aviation facilities pay these fees. Falcon Field is important and vital for the future development and stability of the local economy. Local businesses and industry use the Falcon Field facilities, and with the addition of FAA funds, we hope to see more quality, intelligent-growth-based diversification. We again thank Falcon Field for their quality services and their commitment to a controlled and environmentally sound program of work. Randy Hayes Chairman Fayette County Development Authority
