Country Gardens retirement home celebrates a year of serving Fayette

Country Gardens Assisted Living is celebrating its one-year anniversary this weekend.

The center is located just north of Fayetteville, on Lester Road in Union City. From 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, the community is invited to attend the anniversary celebration.

Country gardens is locally owned and operated by Fayetteville resident, Cheryl Bale. Bale moved here in 1996 and her goal was to find property near her home to open a second assisted living home center.

The center looks very much like a bed and breakfast. It's a two-story Victorian home with a large wrap-around porch. The grounds feature thousands of flowers, plants and walking paths. Providing choices is paramount to the center's philosophy.

Breakfast is made to order and residents have six entrees to choose from at lunch and dinner.

"We listen to our residents and try to incorporate what they want into everything we do," Bale said.

Country Gardens is also unique in the care that is offered.

"I wanted to create a place where someone could stay for the rest of their lives. We offer graduated levels of care that help residents truly age in place. Many of our residents are pretty independent, but as their needs change, their home shouldn't have to," said Bale.

The center offers 40 apartments and 18 different floor plans and there are still a few units available.

"The community's response has been overwhelming. They have made us feel very welcome," Bale said.
