Soccer playoffs continue today By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Eight local soccer teams entered the state soccer playoffs and only four of those teams remain. Starr's Mill's boys are the only local boys team left in the state playoffs. The Panthers defeated Houston County, 2-0 on Monday and will host the Brookwood Broncos tonight at 8 p.m. for a chance to go to the state semifinals. If Starr's Mill wins they will take on the winner of Shiloh/Glynn Academy. Brookwood has made the quarterfinals by defeating SW DeKalb, 16-1 and Chattahoochee, 5-2. Three of the four girls teams from Region 4-AAAAA that made the state playoffs are still alive. McIntosh defeated Tift County, 13-0, on Tuesday, while Starr's Mill beat Hardaway, 7-0 and Newnan shutout Lowndes, 5-0. McIntosh will host Parkview on Saturday, while Newnan will play at Brookwood and Starr's Mill will play at Roswell. Should Newnan and Starr's Mill both win, they would face each other in the AAAAA state semifinal. If McIntosh wins, they will play the winner of the Pope/St. Vincent's game.
