Plans for Fred Fest announced By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater will open its doors June 8 and welcome in several local upcoming bands in one of the first concerts for teenagers at the venue in a number of years. Fred Fest, sponsored by the Peachtree City Recreation Department and the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, will feature a number of bands and will last from 5-9 p.m. The bands performing at Fred Fest will be Slow Children at Play, which has been together for eight years and has released two CDs; Gravel Undertones, featuring Sean Thompson, who has performed in the U.S. and U.K. since he was 10 years old; FlyStyle, featuring Adam Lyons, who plays backup guitar for his mother's jazz group in the U.K.; Brazen Angels, featuring Chris Cannon who has promoted concerts in the area for a number of years and has been a member of bands like Phlox and Crossroads; and Falter, a group from McIntosh High School that has just released a new CD. There are a few more suprises in store, including one more band. Tickets for Fred Fest are on sale now. Advance tickets are $10 and are being sold every Wednesday and Friday at McIntosh High School during lunch and every Thursday at Starr's Mill and J.C. Booth Middle School. Tickets are also being sold at the Peachtree City Recreation Department at Kedron and the Fayette County Recreation Department. Tickets at the gate will be $15. No food, beverages or coolers will be allowed at Fred Fest. |
