All Area 4-AAAAA girls soccer team named By MICHAEL
BOYLAN
Three girls soccer teams from Area 4-AAAAA still alive in the state playoffs McIntosh, Newnan and Starr's Mill are also heavily represented on the all-area team. McIntosh defenders Melanie Schneider and Joni Vickers were named to the team as were midfielders Katie Schulz and Dana Van Winkle. Starr's Mill goalkeeper Kristin Rutland was named to the team as were defender Lindsay Wegryzyn, midfielder Amanda Thurber and forward Allison Graham. Newnan had two forwards named to the team, Lanie Scott and Wynn Mottola, as well as midfielder Christie McDonald and defender Lauren Clifton. Other players who made the team were Jonesboro goalkeeper Laura Harris, defender Sarah Kolber, midfielder Michelle Leuke and forward Amanda Traber, East Coweta forward Christa Harrison and Stockbridge defender Brittany Linde. All players listed received votes from over one-fourth of the coaches in Area 4-AAAAA. With the area split, many teams only saw the seven teams they had to play in sub-area competition. Coaches nominated up to five players from their own team and all votes were for players on that list. Coaches did not vote for their own players (their nomination was their vote) or for players on a team they had not seen play this year.
