Heritage Christian youth groups get ready for busy summer The youth groups at Heritage Christian Church have several major events planned for the summer including a mission trip to Ohio, a Christian summer camp, and a high school youth conference in Tennessee. Most events are for youth in ninth grade through college freshmen, with one event planned for youth in grades 6-8. On June 9-14, the youngsters will head for a town just north of Ironton, Ohio for a week of community projects, including roofing and painting. The cost is $125 per person. "It's a week of splitting up the group and forming teams to see great things accomplished for God's people," a spokesperson said. "Each year is different. Our jobs range from painting to roofing a house for a widow in the community. It's a great week and our lives will be touched." Woodland Christian Summer Camp will offer two sessions: a Middle School Camp, June 16-21, for those entering sixth through eighth grades; and a High School Camp, July 7-12 for those entering ninth grade through college freshmen. The cost is $125 per person. From July 22 through 26, students entering ninth grade through college freshmen are invited to attend the High School Christ in Youth Conference at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. "Imagine 1,200 teenagers worshiping God each night of the week," a spokesperson said. "They are singing 'Shout to the Lord,' 'I can Only Imagine,' 'Prince of Peace,' and 'God of Wonders,' listening to great challenges issued by youth ministers from across the nation, and attending classes dealing with subject matters that relate to their present day struggles. This is the Christ in Youth Conference." The cost for the conference is $215 per person, with a $100 deposit due by June 7.
