Infertility treatment has risks

I want to make sure that anyone who participates in [an infertility] program is given all the information concerning this procedure. This includes the lifelong effects your mind and body will experience once you have completed the program.

I speak from experience. My husband and myself participated in infertility programs. I have had eight intrauterine inseminations, four IVFs, nine diagnostic laparoscopes, and a full hysterectomy along with a bladder sling (my bladder fell 10-15 years early due to abdominal manipulation). All this [happened] from the ages of 21 to 33.

Now here I am in April 2002, recovering from my 10th diagnostic laparoscope. This one was to remove more scar tissue, yet again. The scar tissue was on my colon, growing up towards my liver, and down towards my cervix, as well as being up and down both my sides.

Yes, all this began with infertility procedures.

Thank you for allowing me to finally be able to tell other infertility patients that there can be a lot more involved than they initially think.
