'Zero tolerance' policy is now 'zero intelligence' At the moment I am, to put it mildly, seething. Frank Gilman, Jr., has learned how stupid, asinine and inane our government has become in the last few years. Oh, no doubt the government agents and employees involved in this travesty will be insulted by my adjectives chosen to describe their actions. Well, I hope so! I am, in the same manner, insulted that my tax money goes to support such inept and shortsighted actions by the government. The Gelman family is going to be out thousands of dollars to defend against this action and he will forever have an arrest on his record. Lets face it, fellow citizens honest, intelligent and reasonable folks know that there are thousands of items which can be used as weapons but unless it is being used or threatened to be used in such a manner, it is just a harmless tool. Is a baseball bat a weapon? Well, no, but it can be. Is a chain saw a weapon? No, but numerous horror movies have used them in such a manner. Would I be arrested for having a crowbar or chain on school property? Hey, under the current system, that is a possibility. Does that make sense? NO! In recent years you might as well label "zero tolerance" as "zero intelligence." Lee Hunt Fayetteville
