Library helping residents with investment questions

Starting May 7, the Peachtree City Library will host three classes on consecutive Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. which will show the average investor how to use materials found in the library.

The first class meets May 7 in room 1 downstairs at the library and will tackle equity investing. Asset class (large, small and international), revenue, earnings and dividends will be some of the topics under discussion.

On May 14, the group will meet in the computer lab and will look at mutual funds featuring Morningstar as a tool for making selections.

Under discussion will be the basic concept of pooled funds, Load vs No Load and Growth vs Income Funds.

On May 21 the group will meet in the computer lab and will emphasize the importance of the computer in investment choices. Online investing will also be discussed.

Conducting these classes will be Peachtree City resident, Richard Matsey, who brings 16 years experience in the brokerage industry. Matsey has conducted several seminars on investing and is adept at adjusting the discussion to match the experience and interest of the participants.

This series was offered at the library in the Fall of 2000 and was so popular that some who missed it requested the return engagement.

These programs are sponsored by the library and no advance signup is necessary. There should be something for everyone whatever their level of experience may be.
