Atlanta will get moving with the beginning of National Dance Week Friday By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Do you have happy feet? If so, your feet will be even happier come Friday, when National Dance Week begins. National Dance Week, an annual springtime celebration of everything that is dance, encourages public awareness of dance and the art form's contributions to the culture. It is also a way for the community to recognize the efforts and achievements of regional dance companies and schools. National Dance Week was first celebrated in 1978. It is celebrated the week of April 29 to honor Jean Georges Noverre, the honored dancer, choreographer, ballet master and dance theorist who was bon in Paris in 1727. Capezio, Dance Magazine and Dance Teacher Now have given the National Dance Week movement rebirth. Cities across the country will hold free classes, workshops and dances during the week to get the country on their feet and moving to the beat.
