County right not to take money with strings on it I don't know if I can credit Pastor [John] Hatcher or The Citizen for the grammatical mistakes and spelling errors in his article April 17, but I suspect the latter. Not much has changed in this regard. However, I do take exception to Pastor Hatcher's views on the state of public transportation in Fayette County. Pastor Hatcher fails to take into consideration the current public road situation and its prospects for the future. Any person utilizing the roads into and around either Fayetteville or Peachtree City will recognize that we are at a saturation point now. Funding for road improvements are being held in political contention by GRTA, the governor and other special interest groups. Fayette County has been threatened by parties intimating that Fayette County will receive minimal road improvement funds unless they play ball and be willing to be controlled by outside entities. I, for one, applaud the stance of the Commission. I am a transplant from Gwinnett County where public transportation is available. I dread each time I have to visit my dentist there due to the traffic encountered. Fulton and DeKalb are no better, perhaps worse. Fayette County was selected as our home because of the semi-rural atmosphere that was here 10 or 12 years ago. The county is changing fast enough. Let's not create another traffic nightmare by adding additional transportation options. P.S. I am almost 65 years old and have never owned a Mercedes nor do most of my friends or neighbors.
