2002 Starr's Mill High School Football Camp

Panther football camp offered this summer

Starr's Mill High School will be hosting its fourth annual football camp June 3-6 for any young man in grades 3-8. The camp will concentrate on the basic fundamentals of the game. Topics to be covered include: quarterback play, running backs play, lineman skills, and linebacker and defensive back techniques. Campers will also receive instruction on other areas of the game of football such as weight training, proper nutrition, and proper practice mechanics.

The camp will be under the direction of Starr's Mill head football coach Mike Earwood. Over the past 16 years, Earwood has been one of Georgia's most successful high school football coaches. In 2001, he led the Panthers to a 9-3 record, a sub-region championship and an unprecedented third consecutive trip to the State Playoffs. He will be joined by the Starr's Mill High School Football staff as camp instructors. Collectively, the staff has over eight decades of coaching experience.

The camp is designed to give the participants a maximum number of drill periods on all phases of the game. Participants will be divided into small groups to increase the improvement opportunities and the individual instruction. If you would like your son to have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football and lay the foundation for a future champion, please fill out an application and return it to Starr's Mill High School promptly.

The camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon June 3-6 at Starr's Mill High School's football stadium. The fee is $60 but the fee for each additional camper from the same family is $50. Campers must bring shorts, a shirt, cleats and tennis shoes. The deadline to register is June 1. Phone Chad Phillips at 770-486-2710 ext. 164 for more information.
