Baseball teams face region foes By MICHAEL
BOYLAN If you are a baseball fan, you'll want to head over to McIntosh High School tonight at 7 p.m. when the Chiefs take on Fayette County High School. The Tigers are undefeated in region play and sit atop the standings with an 8-0 region record. On Monday, Fayette County defeated Starr's Mill, 6-4, while McIntosh destroyed Mt. Zion, Jonesboro, 19-2. The Chiefs are hoping ther bats will stay hot for their game against their county and region rivals. Both teams have played very well this season and have received great performances from their pitchers as well as timely hitting. The Tigers have won eight games in a row and the Chiefs have won two games in a row. Sandy Creek lost to Union Grove, 6-4 on Monday and fell to 5-4 in the region and 8-10 overall. The Patriots defeated Salem last week 13-6 but lost to Woodward Academy last Thursday, 4-2, after jumping out to an early lead after Bruce Lester hit a two run homerun. The Patriots will play at Westlake at 5:30 p.m. today and will host Creekside on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Starr's Mill, which has lost three games in a row since beating East Coweta, hopes to get back on track with a game against Henry County at 5 p.m. today at home. They will play at Jonesboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
