BOYLAN
The local baseball teams played some important region games this week and the results were good for some and not so good for others. Sandy Creek picked up a 13-6 win over Salem earlier this week. The Patriots had 14 hits in the win and got great performances from Bruce Lester, who had 5 RBIs, Matt Harris, who went four for four from the plate and Dusty Bennett, who drove in two runs. Griffin Hall picked up the win for Sandy Creek giving up seven hits and striking out three. They will host Union Grove on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Fayette County beat Forest Park, 4-0 on Monday and then slammed North Clayton, 14-4 on Wednesday afternoon. The Tigers have a tough contest today when they play at East Coweta at 7 p.m. Fayette County will play at home against Starr's Mill on Monday at 5:45 p.m. Starr's Mill, which defeated East Coweta last Friday and ended the Indian's 10 game win streak, has now lost two in a row. The Panthers fell to the Tigers, 5-1 on Monday with Gary Kubik driving in their only run. Starr's Mill then lost to McIntosh on Wednesday, 3-1. The Panthers will host Mt. Zion today at 6 p.m. before traveling to take on the Tigers on Monday. McIntosh bounced back from a 12-2 loss against East Coweta to beat Starr's Mill, 3-1. They host Newnan on Saturday at 7 p.m. and will travel to Mt. Zion on Monday for a game at 5:30 p.m.
