Soccer teams get big wins after break

The local high school soccer teams started the final part of the regular season on Tuesday night and got some key wins.

Starr's Mill's girls hosted Jonesboro and won, 5-0. Allison Graham had two goals and an assist in the win. Katey Price, Sarah Burke and Lindsay Anderson also scored for the Lady Panthers. The Starr's Mill boys won 10-0 giving them a five game unbeaten streak.

Starr's Mill's boys and girls teams will host Henry County tonight with the girls game beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the boys game following.

The Newnan Lady Cougars got a 4-0 win over Collins Hill on Tuesday. Wynn Mottola had a hat trick for Newnan, while Lanie Scott added the fourth goal. The Lady Cougars host their rivals, the East Coweta Lady Indians, tonight at 7 p.m.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs, currently ranked first in AAAAA, defeated St. Pius, 4-0 on Tuesday night. The Lady Chiefs have a 14 game unbeaten streak and have not given up a goal since Feb. 23. They will wrap up the regular season on Monday when they host Walton at 7:30 p.m. The McIntosh boys (13-0) played Newnan last night and will finish the season at McEachern at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls both produced wins over Union Grove on Tuesday night. The boys won 2-0, while the girls won 6-1. The boys win qualified them for the state tournament, which will begin at the end of the month. Up next for Sandy Creek are games against the Riverdale boys and girls at home. The girls are scheduled to kickoff at 5:30 p.m. and the boys will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Fayette County boys will face Northgate at home tonight and will close out the season on Tuesday with a game against Upson Lee.

The Lady Tigers defeated North Clayton, 15-0 on Tuesday and will play Upson lee on Tuesday before the boys game.
