Soccer teams look to finish the season strong after the break

Spring break is over and the regular season of high school soccer is winding down. Some teams, like Sandy Creek, have four games remaining on their schedule, while McIntosh's girls only have one.

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs are ranked first in AAAAA. They have a record of 12-0-1 and are currently riding a five-game win streak. They have outscored their opponents 97-1 this season and have faced some stiff competition from teams from Georgia as well as nationally. The Lady Chiefs hosted St. Pius last night and will finish the regular season Monday, April 15, when they host Walton at 7:30 p.m.

The McIntosh boys are also performing well this season. The are currently ranked third in AAAAA and are a perfect 13-0. They have outscored their opponents this season 89-7 and have two games remaining on their regular season schedule. The Chiefs will host Newnan tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. and will play at McEachern next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The Starr's Mill boys and girls are also ranked in AAAAA and are having good seasons. The Lady Panthers are 8-2-1 this season and are currently ranked eighth in AAAAA. They have won three games in a row and have outscored their opposition 73-6 this season. They played Jonesboro last night and will host Henry County at 5:30 p.m. Friday. They will play their final two games of the season on the road. The Lady Panthers visit Marist at 5 p.m. Monday and finish the season at fifth-ranked Pope April 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The Starr's Mill boys are 7-3-1. In their last game the Panthers tied seventh ranked Walton. The three losses this season came against ranked opponents including top ranked Brookwood, fourth ranked Pope and sixth ranked Parkview. The Panthers did get a win over second ranked Milton and have outscored their opponents 54-10. The Panthers played Jonesboro last night and will face Henry County on Friday following the girls game. They will finish their season at Harrison April 16 at 7:30 p.m. and at Forest Park April 17 at 5 p.m.

The Fayette County High School girls are 6-6 this season. Their last game was a 1-0 loss to Newnan. The Lady Tigers hosted North Clayton last night and will host Northgate tomorrow at 5:45 p.m. They will close out the regular season with a 5:30 p.m. game against Upson Lee next Tuesday.

The Fayette County boys are 9-3 this season and were riding a three game winning streak before losing to Salem before spring break. The Tigers other two losses came against McIntosh and Starr's Mill. Fayette County has outscored their opponents 40-15 this season and will wrap things up with games against Northgate and Upson Lee following the girls' games.

Sandy Creek's Lady Patriots are 7-4 this season and have outscored their opponents 61-17. They played at Union Grove last night and will host Riverdale Friday at 5:30 p.m., Northgate Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., and Southside next Thursday at 5 p.m. They will finish the season with a 5 p.m. game at Shaw April 26.

The Sandy Creek boys will finish the season with the same schedule. They are 8-4 this season and are a win away from qualifying for the state tournament. The Patriots have won two games in a row and have outscored their opponents 50-32.
