Providence to host Goodstock April 19-21 Youth from Fayette and surrounding areas, as well as youth from all over Georgia, are expected to attend Providence United Methodist Church's weekend-long Christian Music Festival, "Goodstock," planned for Friday through Sunday, April 19-21. Providence is expecting an attendance of nearly 2,000 for this year's festival, sponsored by the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Well-known bands including Salvador and Skillet will be on the agenda, as well as local bands from the Atlanta area. For a complete schedule, see the Web site at www.umcyouth.org. Camping facilities will be available on the church campus in south Fayette County and food will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner, including hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecued chicken, drinks, ice cream and breakfast foods. Campfires will not be allowed. The event will be held rain or shine. The stage area is covered. Those planning to stay overnight should bring camping equipment such as sleeping bags, air mattresses, pillows and tents. Those attending for the day only should bring folding chairs and money for souvenirs. The cost is $22 per person for the weekend, $5 for Friday only, $15 for Saturday only, and $10 for Sunday only. Tickets may be purchased online at the above Web site. Gates will open for setup Friday, April 19, at 4 p.m., with Andrew Nelson performing at 6:30, Uncle Jed's Oil at 7:30, and According to John at 8:30. The stage will close down at 10 p.m., but a Late Night Cafe with Derrick McTavish is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. Lights out each night is promptly at 11:30 p.m. Ten Bands are scheduled to perform Saturday, beginning with Jubal's Kin at 9:30 a.m. and concluding with Skillet at 9 p.m. Sunday, James 1:21 will perform at 9:30 a.m. and a worship service is scheduled for 10:30, with Patrick Jansen of the North Georgia Conference. Worship also is planned for 5 p.m. Sunday, led by Providence's pastor, the Rev. Jim Ellison. The band, Salvador, will close the weekend with a final performance at 6 p.m. Sunday.
