Karate for Kids program launched in PTC

Recently the American Taekwondo Association opened its newest location in Peachtree City, on Ga. Hwy 74. Peachtree City Karate for Kids is one of many ATA schools across the U.S. Taekwondo is an exciting and powerful martial art known for its dynamic kicking and hand techniques. There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the martial arts. The school has developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called Karate for Kids.

The Karate for Kids system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills. The building blocks for the system are themes such as Goals, Self-Control, Respect, Courtesy, Self-Improvement, and Dedication. In addition to monthly themes, the system includes the unique victory patch. Kids are rewarded special "victory stars." They may receive stars for straight A's, honor roll, significant improvement, classroom performance, weekly lessons, and tournament participation.

The school trains the students to the best of their ability. Some students come to the school in shape, while others have come to the program 100 pounds overweight. Adults may start at any age, and some adults start as late as 65 and still earn their black belts. All that is expected of the students is a willingness to try. Fitness, Self-Defense, and Self-Confidence are some of the benefits they will receive.

"Martial Art" is a broad term encompassing the many styles of physical discipline (fighting) arts that have been developed over the centuries. Each class begins and ends with a bow. The white belt of the beginner indicates he is without knowledge of Taekwondo and as one progresses in knowledge, the color of the belt gets progressively darker: orange, yellow, camouflage, green, purple, blue, brown, red, red/black, and finally black.

Karate for Kids is more than just a typical karate school. In schools outside the ATA, members often just come for lessons and then go home. However, members of our center look forward to the special activities and events that signify that we're more than just a karate school.

The school will mark its Grand Opening Celebration this Saturday, April 6. It will feature a promotional testing for all students at the Peachtree City School. Tiny Tigers ages 4-6 will test at 9:30 a.m. Juniors and adults will test at 11 a.m. Also there will be an Atlanta Area Black Belt Testing held at 4 p.m. Black belts from the Atlanta area will test for higher ranks here at Peachtree City Karate for Kids. There will also be a special demonstration by 6th degree black belt and three-time world champion Master Todd Droege. Classes will be open to the public throughout the day.
