Southside Cobras finish successful season Several Fayette County residents participated in Power Wheelchair Hockey, a division of the Amercian Association of Adapted Sports Program (AAASP). John Roarke, a Peachtree City resident, has over 35 years of hockey experience and with the help of his son, Paul, coached the Southside Cobras to a very successful and winning season. Paul is a student at Starr's Mill High School and actively plays ice hockey. This was the first season of Power Wheelchair Hockey whose team members are Adam Bashakes (Starr's Mill), Billy Price (Mt. Zion), Vernard Kendrick (Mt. Zion), Megan Watkins (Stockbridge) and Blythe Cannady (Macon). The Cobras went undefeated this season against the Northside team, the Dragons. Price anchors the defense with Watkins in goal. Bashakes, Kendrick and Cannady are the forwards. Their 10 week season ended last week with additional support by Atlanta Thrashers players Jeff Cowan and Daniel Tjarnqvist. AAASP builds youth sports leagues for the physically disabled and has created teams in 31 counties across Georgia. The Georgia High School Association recognizes AAASP as the sanctioning aand governing body in interscholastic adapted sports in Georgia. For more information, visit the Web site at www.aaasp.org.
