BOYLAN
The local soccer teams are off this week for spring break, but they entered the break strong. McIntosh's boys and girls played in tournaments against some of the top competition in the Southeast and the nation and emerged trimuphant, while other local teams tried to enter the break on a strong note. McIntosh's girls, ranked first in the state, played in the adidas Challenge Cup, and won all three games. The Lady Chiefs defeated Woodbridge, Va. 1-0, St. Francis, Calif. 3-0 and Lovett 3-0. They will return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 9 when they host St. Pius at 7:30 p.m. The McIntosh boys played in three games of the McIntosh Classic-Ford Cup. The Chiefs defeated Chattanooga, Tenn. 2-0, Oak Mountain, Ala. 2-1 and Bishop England, S.C. 2-1. The Chiefs will return to action Thursday, Apr. 11, when they host Newnan at 7:30 p.m. Fayette County's boys and girls didn't enter the break too well. The Lady Tigers fell to Newnan 1-0 and the boys lost to Salem 3-0. The Fayette County Lady Tigers will host North Clayton Tuesday, Apr. 9, at 7 p.m. while the boys return to action Friday, Apr. 12, hosting Northgate at 7:30 p.m. The Starr's Mill boys went into the break with a 2-2 tie against Walton, while the Lady Panthers did not get to play in the week before the break due to their game against Marist being postponed due to weather. Starr's Mill's boys and girls will host Jonesboro Tuesday, Apr. 9, with the girls playing at 5:30 p.m. and the boys following. Sandy Creek's boys went into the break with a 4-1 win over Rockdale County, while the girls lost to Rockdale, 6-2. Both teams return to the field Tuesday, Apr. 9, with games at Union Grove. The girls begin at 5:30 p.m. and the boys wil play at 7:30 p.m. If the boys win, they will qualify for the state tournament.
