What is our money being spent on?

Our seniors are being treated unprofessionally by the management of Fayette Senior Services (FSS) day program.

I have read the recent letters to The Citizen and am here to tell you there are a lot more people who feel the same way but haven't written. Until now, I was one of them. Those of us who have volunteered or worked at FSS have personally witnessed consistently rude and disrespectful behavior from the top leaders. They have been unbelievably condescending and inconsistent with the staff and seniors. The staff and volunteers that work there do so not for the money but to give something back to their community, people with good intentions and a caring spirit, most of them professionals who want to serve others.

Our seniors don't deserve to be talked down to and disrespected; they literally live in fear of breaking one of the rules at FSS. It breaks my heart to see seniors getting so upset at the way they are treated. That is why I'm speaking up for those seniors who are hurt and angry! Most of the seniors don't have the choice to just leave.

To FSS local supporters such as Kiwanis, Rotary, Road Less Traveled Thrift Shop, United Way, annual country concert-goers, and all the Fayette County taxpayers, I have a question. Do you know what your donations are being spent on? I don't. I saw nothing extra being spent on the day program [for] senior client[s]. When I was there the typical hot breakfast was an envelope of oatmeal and a Little Debbie cake with juice or milk. Lunch was a TV dinner.

How has this program continued under this leadership? The people of Fayette trying to give back is how, until they are run off and the next unsuspecting volunteer or staff member is brought on.

Several times in the past some board members were notified of complaints but nothing changed. I am calling on all the FSS board members to act responsibly and remove this current management.
