'Sound of Music' auditions coming soon

Fayette Players and Community Theatre Inc. will have auditions for "The Sound of Music," April 22-24 in the drama and choral rooms at Starr's Mill High School.

Vocal auditions will take place Monday, April 22, from 6:30-8 p.m. for children ages 6-16. The song will be "Doe A Deer" and lyrics and music will be available. Children are asked to arrive at 6 p.m. for paperwork.

Vocal auditions for adults will be held from 8-10 p.m. They may use any song to audition but must bring sheet music or pre-recorded music on tape or CD. Adults are asked to arrive at 7:30 p.m. to fill out paperwork.

The first call back will be Tuesday, April 23, and may include more vocal auditions as well as dance and cold readings. The second call back will be Wednesday, April 24, and will feature readings and some vocal and some dance.

The show will be cast by the directors: David Spearman, Millie Turek and Jonsie Pollock. Casting calls will be made by April 26.

"The Sound of Music" will be performed in the Willie Dukes Auditorium June 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 and July 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 13. Rehearsals in April and May will take place at Sandy Creek High School. Rehearsals will begin at Starr's Mill June 3.
