New youth track club to hold informational meeting

The next informational meeting for the South Side Pioneers Track Club will be held on Thursday, April 11, at the Fayette County Library in Fayetteville from 7 - 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the main meeting room.

The South Side Pioneers Track Club is a newly forming youth track club that is seeking coaches, trainers, administrators, business and corporate sponsors, and parent volunteers to help develop its 2002 Summer Program. If you have coaching and/or training expertise in track and field and would like to become a part of a competitive community-based track club, please contact Danielle Mathis immediately at 770-719-4664. All coaches will be required to become certified by the USATF and the AAU.

Youth athletes between the ages of 10-18 are welcome to compete seriously with the South Side Pioneers at the local, regional, and national levels in USATF and AAU track and field competitions this coming summer. Middle school and high school athletes are especially welcome as well as residents from neighboring communities.

The South Side Pioneers Track Club is not only dedicated to the athletic development of its athletes, but also their character, educational, and leadership development as well.

The South Side Pioneers will begin their 2002 summer track season in May, but training will begin next month. For further information, contact Danielle Mathis at 770-719-4664.
