Spring break for local students starts when the dismissal bell rings this Friday afternoon. The following week will be wide open for the kids.

Some will go on trips with their families, while others will hang around the house. There are some options for the local student athletes, including two golf camps and a soccer camp.

Champions Golf Center in Fayetteville will be conducting a 2002 Junior Golf Camp during spring break, for boys and girls ages 6-15, and will teach them the basics of golf. It is a four-day program, from April 1-4, and runs from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. PGA Pro and former Georgia Assistants PGA Match Play Champion Tim Causey will be the head instructor. The cost is only $150 and includes lunch each day, soft drinks and a pass for one round of putt-putt at Dixie Land. Phone 770-460-7408 or stop by Champions Golf Center at 174 Hwy 279 in Fayetteville, just off GA Hwy 85.

The Wendell Coffee Golf Center will also offer a 2002 Spring Break Junior Golf Camp April 1-4 for a fee of $175 for ages 6-14. The day begins at 8:30 a.m. and lasts until 2:30 p.m. Each day there are lessons involving each element of the game up until lunch. After lunch, the campers shoot nine holes of golf on the course. Phone 770-969-4469.

The Soccer Centre will offer a Spring Break Soccer Camp April 1-5. The half-day camp for ages 7-14 is $100 and the muppet camp for ages 4-6 is $75. There will be drills, exercises and short-sided games. Phone 770-460-8785.

Spaces in the camps are filling up fast, so register today.
