Soccer teams head into spring break

There are only a handful of games left in the regular season of high school soccer and many of the teams will be off during the week of spring break. Instead of playing in tournaments the week of the break, some of the teams competed in tourneys last weekend while others will play in some this weekend.

Fayette County's boys and girls played in the Newnan Cougar Classic. The Lady Tigers opened the tournament with a loss to Oak Mountain, Ala. 2-1 and defeated Grissom, Ala. 4-2. The boys team got two wins, defeating Lakeside, DeKalb, 3-0 and beating Athens, Ala. 4-0.

The Lady Tigers hosted Eagle's Landing last night while the boys played at Eagle's Landing. The boys will host Salem Friday at 7:30 p.m. and the girls will play at Newnan at 7 p.m. Both teams will then be off until the week of April 8.

McIntosh's Lady Chiefs participated in the Jekyll island Showcase and won both of their games. McIntosh defeated Bishop England, S.C., 1-0 and then beat Savannah Country Day, 4-0. The Lady Chiefs will host the adidas Challenge Cup this weekend where they will face Woodbridge, Va. at 4;30 p.m. today, St. Francis, Calif. at 4 p.m. on Friday and Lovett at 3 p.m. on Saturday. All games will be played at the Baseball/Soccer Complex on Ga. Highway 74 South in Peachtree City.

The boys team hosted Lovejoy on Friday and won 7-0. They will host the Ford Cup this weekend and will take on Chattanooga, Tenn. at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, Oak Mountain, Ala. at 6 p.m Friday and Bishop England, S.C. at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Starr's Mill hosted Evans last Friday. The Lady Panthers won 15-0 and the boys won 6-0. The Lady Panthers hosted Marist last night while the boys played at Forest Park. The Starr's Mill girls team will be off until their home game against Jonesboro April 9 at 5:30 p.m. while the boys will host Walton tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.

Sandy Creek's boys and girls were off over the weekend. Today they will host Rockdale County with the boys playing at 6 p.m. and the girls playing at 8 p.m. Both teams will then be off until April 9 when they play at Union Grove.
