Sidmel Estes-Sumpter, a new Fayeteville resident and veteran television news exective, is featured in a new book published by More Magazine.

Entitled "Fifty Celebrate Fifty," the book features 50 women across the spectrum who are either approaching the age of 50 or who have already achieved that milestone, who are considered role models.

Some of the celebrities featured in the book include Peggy Fleming, Sally Fields, Twiggy, Phylicia Rashad, Cybil Shepherd, Reba Mcentire, Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton. Estes-Sumpter was chosen from a national field of candidates because of her professional achievements and work in the community.

The book was released recently at the Changing Destiny awards presentation in New York. The effort, spearheaded by actress Susan Sarandon, benefited several charities dedicated to empowering young parents, mentoring and changing their destiny.

The 47-year-old Estes-Sumpter is a native Atlantan who is the executive producer of "Fox Morning News" and "Good day Atlanta." She has been employed by WAGA-TV for 23 years.

She also is an adjunct professor at Emory University. She and her husband, Garnett, recently moved to the area along with their sons, Joshua and Sidey.
