'Nunsense' brings hilarity to Fayette County

A terrible tragedy has occurred to The Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken, or the "Little Hobos" as they are affectionately known.

A severe case of botulism from a bad batch of vichysoisse killed 52 of the nuns at the convent, all but four of whom were buried properly. The remaining sisters are conducting a fund-raiser with singing and dancing to raise funds to give them a proper burial.

That is the plot of "Nunsense," which will be presented by Fayette Players and Community Theatre Inc. in the Black Box Theater at McIntosh High School, Friday and Saturdays, March 8-16 at 8 p.m. The cast is made up of the Henry Players, who have performed this show a number of times.

Most recently the musical nuns from Henry County raised money for the Henry Medical Center with six shows. Proceeds from the shows at McIntosh will benefit both the Henry Medical Center and the Fayette Players and Community Theatre Inc.'s building of a theater.

The nuns that present the rollicking fund-raiser are Sister Mary Regina, the mother superior whose bark is worse than her bite; Sister Mary Hubert, a dignified yet fun-loving nun; Sister Robert Anne, a tough talking, streetwise nun; Sister Mary Amnesia, an innocent; and Sister Mary Leo, a professional dancer.

"Nunsense" has entertained audiences since 1985. The show features lots of comedy and entertainment and is a good time for the whole family. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. There will be ticket specials for the first weekend. Adults buying two tickets will get the second ticket half off and students presenting ientification will get $5 admission.
