Avenue gets accolades from city officials Peachtree City's newest shopping center was presented with the Best Commercial Site award by the city's building apartment at a recent City Council meeting. "Our objective with The Avenue Peachtree City was to establish a superior professional relationship with city officials to support the integrity of their highly respected development and design standards" said Joel Murphy, president of Cousins retail division. Each year, the building department recognizes local developers for exceptional achievements during the preceding year. Past recipients incude Group VI, the Tek-rail office in 2000; MEJA Construction/David Millican in 1999 and Garrard Construction/The Shenshi project in 1998. "The Avenue Peachtree City venture was succesful because it was a total team effort," said building official Tom Carty. "From abiding by safety regulations to engineering and landscaping to meeting deadlines, every aspect of the project was handled to perfection. It was a pleasure to work with Cousins Properties and has been a pleasure to enjoy the finished project." The Avenue opened in late March 2001 and features 167,000 square feet of shopping space. The project also includes 12,000 square feet of loft office space.
