Sandy Creek's boys basketball team won their first region championship on Saturday night. The Patriots edged out top ranked Westlake, 83-80. Sandy Creek will now face Crisp County High School at Crisp County High School in Cordele tonight at 5:30 p.m.

The Patriots got key contributions from the entire team last weekend and will need to keep it up if they are to advance in the state tournament.

The Fayette County Tigers are also heading to the state basketball tournament. The Tigers, region 4-AAAAA runners up, lost to Lovejoy, 70-63. The team has come together as the season went along and enter the tournament with a good bit of momentum.

The Tigers will face Lowndes tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in Tifton. To get to Tift County High School take I-75 South to the I-475 South exit, Exit 177, to Valdosta. Travel on I-475 to the I-75/Ga. 401 exit and merge on to I-75 South. Take Exit 62, the US 82 exit, towards US-319 to Sylvester and Moultrie. Take a right on to US-82 east.
