From classic rockers like Creedence Clearwater Revisited to just plain classics like Ray Charles, the 2002 Summer Concert Series at Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is packed with power.

The lineup for the first part of the series was announced last Friday. Clearwater opens the series April 19 and 20 and Charles closes the first part of the series, June 14 and 15.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited features Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford, the rhythm section of Creedence Clearwater Revival, which broke up in 1972. In 1995 Cook and Clifford teamed up with singer John Tristao and lead guitarist Elliot Easton, formerly of The Cars. The band plays all of Creedence Clearwater Revival's songs including "Susie Q," "Run Through the Jungle," "Bad Moon Rising," "Fortunate Son" and countless others. They will play the Amphitheater Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20.

Playing Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4 is legendary 1970s pop sensation David Cassidy. The former teen idol is best known for his performance with The Partridge Family. Their hits included songs like "C'Mon Get Happy," "I Think I Love You," "I Woke Up In Love This Morning," and "Lying To Myself." Cassidy has performed on television, Broadway and most recently in Las Vegas. He has recently embarked on his first concert tour in over a decade and is recording a new album.

Following Cassidy to the stage at The Fred will be Southern rockers Molly Hatchet. The band, named after a famous 17th century axe murderess named Hatchet Molly, is best known for "Dreams I'll never See," "Flirtin' With Disaster," "Whiskey Man," "Gator Country" and "Mississippi Moon Dog." Molly Hatchet has undergone some personnel changes since releasing its first album in 1978 but the band is still a crowd pleaser all over the world. Molly Hatchet will perform Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18.

Lesley Gore will perform her hits Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1. Gore burst on to the music scene in 1963 with what was her biggest hit, "It's My Party," which reached number one on the charts. She followed that song up with "You Don't Own Me," which peaked at number two on the charts. During the 1960s Gore recorded several more top 40 hits such as "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows," and "That's The Way Boys Are." She grew into a song writer and composer in the 1970s and '80s and was nominated for an Oscar for her song "Out Here On My Own" from the film "Fame." Since then she has appeared on Broadway and continues to write and perform.

Closing out the first part of the series is the legendary Ray Charles. An inductee at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, Charles is best known for his 1967 classic rendition of "Georgia On My Mind," which is the state song. He has appeared on countless television shows and was featured in the 1980 comedy "The Blues Brothers." Some of his other hits include "What'd I Say," "Take These Chains From My Heart," and "One Mint Julep."

Also coming to the amphitheater this year is a concert for teens done in conjunction with the Peachtree City Recreation Department June 8, The Swingin' Medallions July 5, a story-telling night for children after the Last Fling and a Christmas event.

Season ticket renewal started Monday. The deadline to renew season tickets is March 8. New season tickets may be purchased March 16 and single tickets will go on sale the week before the first concert. Season tickets are $100. Single tickets for Creedence Clearwater Revisited, Ray Charles and David Cassidy are $45 while Lesley Gore and Molly Hatchet are $35.
