Fayette Senior Services is best known for the Meals on Wheels program and also offers seniors an assortment of other services that help them maintain their independence as long as possible.

One of the organization's main fund-raisers is a country music concert, which returns to Sams Auditorium this Saturday from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

"This program will be the best we've ever had," said Harold Joyner, retired Delta Air Lines assistant vice president and emcee of the show. "The talent we are presenting will rival the music you hear in Nashville."

Playing at the sixth annual country music concert for Fayette Senior services are The Allen Goodman Band, The Fergusson-Caine Band, and vocalists Susanna Walker, Diana Caldwell and Samantha Swaney. Walker, Caldwell and The Allen Goodman Band have all performed at the concert before and are pleased to return.

The Allen Goodman Band is led by Allen Goodman on keyboards and vocals, Lance Bowen on bass and vocals, David Jackson on lead guitar and Kim Bowen on drums. The band performs a mixture of country favorites as well as Jerry Lee Lewis' "Great Balls of Fire" and Floyd Cramer's "Last Date."

The Fergusson-Caine Band is making its first appearance at the FSS concert. The band is lead by Ross DuBono on guitar with Steve Geis on pedal steel, Rick Phillips on the keyboard, Bobby Johnson on bass and Derek DuBobon on drums. Geis has performed at several of the previous Fayette Senior Services country concerts and not only does an amazing job on the steel but has also given stirring performances with his violin.

As for the vocalists, Swaney will make her first appearance at the concert, while Caldwell will sing some of Patsy Cline's hits and Walker will belt out favorites like "Poor, Poor Pityful Me," and "The Rose."

"The proceeds from this concert are a vital part of our budget each year as we serve the growing number of seniors here in Fayette County," said Andy Carden, FSS executive director. "We really appreciate Harold, the Fayette Senior Services Board of Directors, community partners that sponsor the concert, the musicians and all the volunteers, especially the Metro Fayette Kiwanis, that make this event such a success."

Tickets are $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. The show was almost a sell out last year and everyone is encouraged to get their tickets early. Phone Fayette Senior Services at 770-461-0813 or stop by the Friendship Center at 390 Lee St., just behind Melear's Barbecue in Fayetteville. Tickets also will be available at Sams Auditorium when the doors open at 6 p.m.
