1st Presbyterian in PTC planning mission trips to Mexico in June Members of the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City recently welcomed the Rev. Gilberto Medina of Mexico as their guest pastor and announced that the church has plans for two mission trips to Mexico this summer. The youth ministry, led by Youth Director Pete Guillard, will travel to Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, May 29 - June 10, under the auspices of Amor Ministries. The youngsters will be involved in home building and evangelism activities. To raise funds for the trip, the youth will have a Swing Dance at McIntosh High in March. The second trip is adult-oriented and involves mission work in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, June 23-29. This adult group will operate under the auspices of Puentes de Cristo and will be involved with construction work as well as the operation of a Vacation Bible School. First Presbyterian has sent teams to Reynosa for the past three years. In his sermon to the congregation of First Presbyterian, Medina spoke about mission work. "Go out and open your hearts," he said. " Mission is our response to all God has given us. Be prepared to remember God. When He calls, it is time to respond. To respond is an act of faith. Work with joy and hope. He will be with us ... that is His promise." |
