The season of Lent those 40 days beginning this year on Feb. 13, Ash Wednesday, and culminating with the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter, March 31 has begun.

This year, special worship services will be offered at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church during the week, according to the Rev. Miriam Beecher.

Each Wednesday at noon, Old Testament stories of God's saving acts will be revisited in the sanctuary at 101 Peachtree Pkwy. North. The Creation story will be told on Feb. 20, and in the following weeks, The Flood, Abraham and Isaac, Israel's Deliverance, and "Dry Bones" on March 20.

"These services are especially timed to allow the working community to worship on their lunch break," Beecher said.

On Thursday evenings at 7, the "I am" saying of Jesus will be presented, beginning on Feb. 21 with "I am the Light," followed by "I am the Bread," "I am the Good Shepherd," "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life," and, on March 21, "I am the Resurrection." Grandview College Choir will be present on March 21 as well.

"The general public is warmly invited to participate in any or all of these services," Beecher said. The church's address is 101 Peachtree Pkwy. North, Peachtree City. Call the church at 770-487-8717.
