Patriots Point in development in Henry County

John Christian, developer of Patriots Point in Locust Grove, said the sales center for the more than 200-homesite community in Locust Grove will open this month.

Christian, whose company, John Christian Homes Inc., is also a builder in the community, also announced that Walden Custom Homes has joined the Patriots Point builder team.

Located on New Street, the 60-acre Patriots Point development will have both single family and ranch condominium homes priced from the low $100,000s. The community is a short distance from the Locust Grove exit on I-75 and can be reached by taking Bill Gardner Parkway into Locust Grove, going past the Tanger Outlet Center, and turning right on New Street.

Patriots Point will be a swim/tennis community with approximately five acres of green space, streetlights, and sidewalks. The developer said four trees will be planted in every yard, which will be sodded, and all residences will have car garages.

Phase I of the community will consist entirely of single family homes with a minimum of three bedrooms. One-third of the homes will contain 1,600 sq. ft., one-third will have 1,500 sq. ft., and one-third will have 1,400 sq. ft. At least half of these homes will have masonry accents on the front, and half will have front porches.

The ranch condominiums, which will be introduced in Phase II, will consist of 1,300 and 1,400 sq. ft. homes, and both two and three bedroom plans will be available. Construction is expected on the first spec homes by February.

Walden Custom Homes is owned by Craig Walden, who entered the building field as a carpenter while in high school, then started working for a small volume home builder. Temporarily leaving the building industry in the late 1980s, he came back into home building in 1991 as a project manager with an established builder. His own company, Walden Custom Homes, was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in McDonough.

Walden Custom Homes is also building in Arlington Place and Northridge Station, two Clayton County communities, and has plans to build in Huntcliff in Henry County.

In addition to his career as a builder, Walden is also a licensed minister and is a deacon at his church. His company actively supports the Henry County School System through various sponsorships.

John Christian has been in home building since 1985 when he produced his first two homes, a duplex and a house. The second year, he built six homes, and he increased this to 12 homes the third year and 15 the fourth. The growth trend has continued, and John Christian Homes will build 100 homes in the next 12 months, and his company has earned the coveted Professional Home Builder Designation.

Past president of the Tri-County Home Builders Association, Christian has experienced success in a large number of Metro South communities, include Walden, Spivey Cove, Lakehaven, Vineyards at Eagle1s Landing, and The Legends. In addition to Patriots Point, John Christian Homes is active in Melrose and Crown River, and the company will be involved in another new development opening in Hampton within the next few months.

Christian and his staff are also heavily involved in Habitat for Humanity projects.
