Wednesday, February 13, 2002 Murphy named managing broker for Prudential Georgia office Long-time Fayette County real estate professional Kathy Murphy has been named Managing Broker of Prudential Georgia Realty's Peachtree City office at 1971 Highway 54 West after Prudential bought the residential division of Tri-City Realty Services. Murphy, who had been Tri-City's Managing Broker, will serve in this same capacity at the Peachtree City office. Tri-City's residential division and sales associates have been incorporated into this Prudential Georgia Realty location. The Tri-City Realty Services property management division will remain in operation. Commenting on the acquisition and new position, Kathy Murphy said, "We had been approached by other real estate companies in the past with merger possibilities, but we turned them down. Being a locally owned real estate company, Prudential Georgia Realty shared a similar mission and core values so it was a perfect match." Atlanta native Kathy Murphy had been at the family owned real estate company for 19 years, serving first as a sales associate, then the relocation director and trainer. She earned her broker's license five years ago. In 2000, she was named the Women's Council of Realtors Member of the Year for the state of Georgia. Last year, Murphy was president of the Fayette Board of Realtors. She currently serves on the state level as chairperson of the State and Local Governmental Affairs Committee.
