Final basketball games of regular season tonight By MICHAEL
BOYLAN The regular season of basketball ends tonight and every team would like to end on a positive note. Especially after Tuesday night's games for some of our local teams. McIntosh's boys and girls won their games but Starr's Mill and Sandy Creek lost. McIntosh traveled to take on Henry County on Tuesday night. The girls won 55-43 and the boys won 58-51. The lady Chiefs were trailing after the first quarter but built a 27-22 lead by the half. Lyndsey Murphy was the leading scorer with 20 points while Whitney Wallis added 12 points. The Lady Chiefs have won four of their last five games. The boys lead 15-10 after the first quarter and 31-26 at the half. Henry County cut the lead to two points at the end of the third quarter but McIntosh kept the pressure on. Scott Prah was the leading scorer with 17 points and Dexter Manley added nine points. McIntosh travels to Lovejoy tonight. Sandy Creek traveled to take on Westlake and both teams lost. The boys team, ranked fifth in AAAA, battled the top ranked team in AAAA and struggled early. The Patriots found themselves down 22-9 after the first quarter but climbed back into the game and eventually had a 48-46 lead at the end of the third quarter. Westlake took control in the fourth and outpaced the Patriots, winning 70-64. Corey Adams was the leading scorer for Sandy Creek with 22 points and William Belton added 18 points. The Lady Patriots fell 71-34. Sandy Creek travels to Jones County tonight. Starr's Mill took on a tough opponent in Morrow on Tuesday night and fell. The Lady Panthers lost 61-32 and the boys fell to the top ranked team in AAAAA 86-54. The Morrow boys have a 22-1 record heading into their final game of the regular season. Starr's Mill will play at East Coweta tonight. The area tournaments are scheduled to begin on Monday. Sandy Creek will host the region 4-AAAA tournament and Fayette County High School will host some region 4-AAAAA tournament games next week.
