Zany 'Moon Over Buffalo' showcases wacky world of theater By MICHAEL
BOYLAN With everything that can go wrong during the run of a play, the theater is the perfect setting for a farce. Whether it is flubbed lines, missed cues, misplaced props or just the actor getting in the way of his or her own performance, mistakes in a play can be hilarious. Mistakes and misadventures abound in "Moon Over Buffalo," a farcical comedy by Ken Ludwig, which is being presented by Southside Theatre Guild, Thursdays-Saturdays, Feb. 7-23. The play deals with an acting couple on tour in Buffalo with a troop of B level actors who are performing "Cyrano" and "Private Lives." Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in "The Twilight of The Scarlet Pimpernel" directed by Frank Capra, who is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance of "Cyrano" or "Private Lives." There's a chance that Charlotte Hay will run off with her agent and her husband, George, may not be sober enough to act. Then there is the question of which play Capra will see, "Cyrano," "Private Lives," or an odd mixture of the two. The misadventures soon pile up at a frenetic pace, all of which are magnified by Charlotte's deaf mother who manages the theater. "Moon Over Buffalo" will be presented at 8 p.m., Thursday-Saturday at Southside Theater Guild in Fairburn. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children.
