Development halt is government take-over It is not clear to me whether Frank Hyde is being sarcastic or is a completely selfish, shortsighted, idiot. By applauding the City of Peachtree City's arbitrary and unconstitutional moratorium on building, Hyde and others like him are leaving the gate open for the government on all levels to take from the people, control the activities of the people, and erode our freedoms at will without regard to the rule of constitutional and natural law. Our right to own property and do with it as we see fit is one of our most fundamental freedoms, and it is at stake. If the building moratorium stands, what will be next, a curfew to keep the streets "quiet" at night, a limit on retail or work hours to promote "family values," limits on landscape planting or house colors to promote a "homogenous" appearance throughout the city? Mark my words, there is no limit to the power over our lives that control freaks like Steve Brown and his like want to achieve. If they set aside the rule of law and arbitrarily take away the rights of one group you may be next, Mr. Hyde. Hopefully, you were being sarcastic. Bill Gilmer wmgilmer@mindspring.com
