Starr's Mill swimmers have momentum heading in to county meet

The Starr's Mill Panthers are getting ready for the Fayette County swimming championships to be held this Friday at the Kedron Aquatic Center. The Panthers won their first county title last year, and hope to swim away with the title again this year.

Every year the team gets stronger. The Panthers just came back from the Americus Invitational on Saturday. Eleven teams were represented, yet Starr's Mill still placed very well in the meet. The boys team won a trophy for first place, and the girls received one for third place. Coach J.B. Campbell was extremely pleased, as the team was missing some key swimmers. They performed very well, even setting a pool record in the boys 400 yard free relay.

The county swim meet will be good practice for the Panthers, as the state meet begins Feb. 14 at Westminster. To date the Panthers have qualified three individual swimmers for state, and most of their relay teams will also be swimming.
