Golston named All-American By MICHAEL BOYLAN If you were looking through your Parade magazine on Sunday morning, you may have spotted a local name. Kedric Golston, a senior at Sandy Creek High School, was named to the Parade All-American High School Football team. Golston, listed at 6'5" and 280 at the beginning of the football season, was one of the top defensive prospects in the nation this year. He played defensive tackle for the Sandy Creek Patriots and was a team leader as well as a force to be reckoned with. As a junior, Golston recorded 88 tackles and 16 sacks and was on pace for an even bigger year this season before getting injured in a car accident. He recorded 55 tackles and 11 sacks in six games. He had six sacks in the game against Heritage High School. Golston broke his leg and was hospitalized for 23 days. He is now out, on his way to a full recovery and about to sign with the University of Georgia. He was being heavily recruited by a number of top collegiate programs and had narrowed his choices to Auburn, Tennessee and UGA before choosing to sign with Coach Mark Richt's rising program. A solid student with a 3.0 GPA, Golston plans on majoring in sports medicine. While at Sandy Creek, Golston has also been one of the top wrestlers in the state and a member of the track and field team.
